Many of our students do not have access to a public library, so their weekly visits to their school library is the only time they get to borrow free books to feed their curiosity and imagination. \r\n\r\nAs the graphic novels slowly began arriving and I began to display them for our upper-grade students. They were so excited! One day one, I had put out 25 new books, and 17 were checked out! The smiles are on their faces were a plus, but their feedback was even more heartwarming. I had one 4th grader say, \"Thank you for getting this book, I've been wanting it for a year.\" Reading is an important part of a student's journey towards academic success, but making sure they are heard is equally as important. Upper-grade students have been wanting more graphic novels in their library, and it has been great to see them happy and reading again.
