The blocks and magnetic people have been the perfect addition to our outdoor playhouse. Your donation helped enhance the building and design centers in our classroom. Our light and shadows unit is off to a great start, just in time for Halloween and the winter holidays. With each material requested, I built a customized shelf marker for each student that serves four purposes. First, as students use them when browsing for books, these shelf markers help students stay organized and teach them the importance of keeping their community-shared space clean. Second, students use their shelf markers at check-out. On each shelf marker, there is attached a card holder and a student's library card with their information. Not only has this new resource made checking out quicker and easier but this has given me more time to dedicate towards helping students individually. Third, the materials of these new resources are so much easier to clean, saving me time to focus on tending to other library-related tasks. Lastly, the bright colors of the shelf markers are so much cooler! \r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw their new shelf markers, they were genuinely excited because I had color coordinated them rainbow style. Based on their wide eyes and toothy grins, I could tell it added life back into the library. As I passed them out, they also began to notice the better quality of the new shelf markers in comparison to their old ones and were delighted about having a real library card. Not only has this new resource brought back some library joy, but it has also helped students better understand their role as safe and respectful library users: having access to an array of free resources as well as their role in taking care of the library and everything in it. My next steps will focus on deepening my students' understanding of this realization. We thank you for your support in making this happen!","fullyFundedDate":1739414780863,"projectUrl":"project/building-awesome-library-users/9064395/","projectTitle":"Building Awesome Library Users!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Prado","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9897162_orig.jpg?crop=761,761,x569,y172&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737053118496","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9897162"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7252","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":145,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":60,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":30,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":44,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 3","studentTeacherRatio":"7.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.9,"schoolId":7252,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Paseo Del Rey Magnet School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Paseo Del Rey Magnet School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/paseo-del-rey-magnet-school/7252"}
