As part of our language arts rotations, I utilize a listening center daily. The students engage in phonics activites for our letter sound of the week, and various listening activities that help them practice following instructions and various phonemic awareness skills such as rhyming and blending. However, their favorite activity is hearing stories read to them. I have various book on tape, and the students love to hear them and follow along with a book. This new listening center will allow my student to engage in these activites without being distracted by the other center activites that are happening at the same time. It will block out the noise around them and help them focus on the task at hand. Because it is wireless, I can move the center to different parts of the classroom too! The students will be able to enjoy their group time with this great new technology.
