We recently finished up our Fiction unit where we read Treasure Island and spent time writing our own adventure stories. The headphones and associated mics allowed students to understand the difference between spoken word and written word. As a result, I had a lot of submissions where students went well over the page limit and created fascinating worlds of horror, slice-of-life-turned adventure, high fantasy, and sci-fi galore. As a writer myself, they were eager to use all the tools available to them to immerse themselves in their own little worlds and show their teacher just how creative they could be as well! Additionally, students are using the headphones in Library and Music \"specials\" where they reinforce research skills, prepare for state testing (Main Idea and Details!) and engage with online musical instrument tools. I've even caught a few do-gooders using them to listen to calm lofi or jazz while they work! With this wonderful addition to the classroom, learning has been made more multi-modal than ever.","fullyFundedDate":1766493117323,"projectUrl":"project/using-tech-with-respect/9647715/","projectTitle":"Using Tech With Respect","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Peeler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10221867_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y57&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756071293245","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/emily-peeler"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_95918","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":569,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":36,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.4,"schoolId":95918,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Parkview Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Parkview Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/eagle-mountain-saginaw-ind-sch-dist/parkview-elementary-school/95918"}
