Our new Camlink 4K capture card (USB stick) is working seamlessly with our existing camera to replace our card that had broken. It now sends our live broadcast through the internet to each classroom in our building every morning. Since ours had broken, I had to borrow one from another school building to keep our show going. I was very happy and grateful to be able to return it to them and resume using our own. I was even able to purchase a backup Camlink stick in case it happens again!\r\n\r\nThe students and staff are probably MOST excited to have our green screen frame up and working. Having this professional-looking green screen technology ramps up our broadcast quality and gets the kids excited. We can easily switch backgrounds behind our anchor desk to make it look like our anchors are anywhere in the world or to display any information needed. \r\n\r\nThanks to the kindness and thoughtfulness of people like you, our public schools are able to provide our students with great opportunities to use technology in real-world situations like this. The students were so happy to see such a high quality mat that allowed them to sit closer to the Smartboard screen at times when I was demonstrating tools on the board. \r\n\r\nMy lab is a very wide room with 25 computers set up all over the place. Some seats are closer to the board than others. It is a strange setup, but I am limited by the availability of electric outlets. Therefore, it's hard to design a learning space where everyone can see the Smartboard equally. That is why I will often ask students who are farther away to come sit on the floor for short demonstrations. Having a comfortable mat to sit on makes them much more willing to move around. \r\n\r\nIn addition, when we are utilizing robotics such as Spheros with ipads, having a safe place to sit on the floor is very conducive to the learning environment. The supplies received from this project made it possible for us to expand our chess club. We were able to increase the number of students we let join for each session. The students loved all of the supplies, especially the chess clocks. They also enjoyed having chess boards in each of their classrooms so they could keep practicing their skills during recess time. Having books for students to borrow in order to learn more at home was great as well!
