It has helped so much to have supplies in the classrooms I support. So many of the students are so appreciative of the supplies for their classrooms and it has been so much easier to move forward with the tools needed to teach.\r\n When I created this project I was covering for two vacancy middles school math positions, and since then one teacher has been hired and she is off to an awesome start. It was so great to be able to give her supplies to be able to start off on the right foot even though she was starting in the middle of the year. Her classroom got posters, dry erase boards and markers, batteries for all the calculators and organization and storage solutions for supplies and papers. The students in this classroom are really starting to thrive and grow. \r\nThe other vacancy position remains a vacancy and will not be filled this year. Between me, one other inclusion teacher and our stem instructional coach we are doing the best we can to bring learning into this classroom. Having the supplies to teach makes this task easier. All the calculators have new batteries. The walls are no longer bare, and we always have pencils to give to students. While I am still worried about how successful this students will be on their state tests this year, I know they supported and valued because of all the help they have received from the staff here and your generous donations.","fullyFundedDate":1765302409016,"projectUrl":"project/help-the-math-teachers-quit/9857792/","projectTitle":"Help! the Math Teachers Quit!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Newton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6886842_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x147,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1571060264765","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6886842"},{"teacherId":8502857,"projectId":8442801,"letterContent":"My students are stunned that there are people who don't know them that are willing to support their education. The sound systems provided two classrooms with the ability for all children to hear clearly the information presented. \r\nThe snacks were used as incentives and rewards. I have never experienced children willing to argue over whose turn it was to respond.\r\nThe kindle performed exactly as I had hoped with the one to one translation. So many teachers are finding out about the technology and wanting to replicate it in their own room.\r\nThe difference you made was evidenced in our improved scores.","fullyFundedDate":1722609995251,"projectUrl":"project/breaking-the-language-barrier-with-techn/8442801/","projectTitle":"Breaking the Language Barrier With Technology","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bartz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8502857_orig.png?crop=480,480,x0,y54&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1670369043158","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8502857"},{"teacherId":248271,"projectId":8903064,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding our last project of the year! As we get into the final weeks, kids are so grateful to have pencils, erasers and lead--when we have to turn in laptops in the last two weeks, these writing implements will be invaluable (and we are already using them now). I even have kids stop by my door between classes to ask for pencil lead. Before I started handed out lead, I would often find functional but empty mechanical pencils on my classroom floor, so this is an positive change. \r\n\r\nAs we got ready for our big statewide testing, the whiteboard erasers got a lot of use as students collectively worked practice problems on the whiteboards. The pink color makes the erasers easy to spot if they end up on a bookshelf or table. During testing my mornings were easier because I already had a class set of headphones and didn't have to schlep a giant bag of headphones in one hand with my testing materials in the other. \r\n\r\nNow that testing is done, we are finishing strong with teambuilding games and the fidget toys as prizes have been eagerly picked through. The bouncy bands on all desks kept kids from wasting study time switching out for the favored ones. I am always seeing students (especially those with ADHD) with their feet bouncing like crazy while their upper half is able to focus on the desk work. When we start our Country project to wrap up the year, we will keep using the post-its for questions and ToD (tickets out the door) to keep kids focused even to the last week.\r\n\r\nThanks again for all of your help! It truly wouldn't be possible without all of my donors. Other teachers often come into my room and ask how I am so well-supplied and I say \"DonorsChoose! Let me help you get started\"","fullyFundedDate":1738687730004,"projectUrl":"project/getting-focused-for-the-long-haul/8903064/","projectTitle":"Getting Focused for the Long Haul","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Abernathy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp248271_orig.jpg?crop=557,557,x0,y100&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661809716179","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/248271"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14189","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":625,"numTeachers":62,"percentFrplEligible":75,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":80,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.6,"schoolId":14189,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Paredes Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Paredes Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/austin-independent-school-district/paredes-middle-school/14189"}
