They give my students the opportunity to build, create, experiment, and solve problems while developing skills that extend far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen students work with STEM bins, there is no single \"right\" answer. They are encouraged to think creatively, try new ideas, make mistakes, and try again. I have watched students who may be hesitant during traditional academic activities become completely engaged when they are given the opportunity to design and build. They naturally practice communication, teamwork, perseverance, critical thinking, and problem-solving—all while having fun.\r\n\r\nSTEM bins have also created opportunities for students to learn from one another. They share ideas, explain their thinking, celebrate each other's creations, and discover that sometimes the best solution comes after several attempts.\r\n\r\nFor my first graders, STEM bins are more than just building materials. They are a way to turn curiosity into learning and give every child an opportunity to be a problem solver, a creator, and a thinker. These hands-on experiences have become an important part of our classroom community, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to provide my students with meaningful, engaging ways to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1646192832446,"projectUrl":"project/mrs-boatmans-stem-based-indoor-recess/6204310/","projectTitle":"Mrs. Boatman’S STEM Based Indoor Recess","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Boatman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6016741_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1716971429264","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6016741"},{"teacherId":4402358,"projectId":10334432,"letterContent":"Our rug, lamps and sweeper are the perfect additions to our classroom!
