The pencil boxes have helped us better organize colored pencils and markers, making materials easy for students to access and return independently. This has made transitions smoother and allowed students to focus more on learning. The liquid chalk markers have been especially exciting—students used them to create and label food webs and food chains directly on their tables, collaborating with peers and explaining their thinking in real time.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were thrilled and eager to use them. The chalk markers immediately sparked creativity and discussion as students worked together to draw diagrams and revise them as they learned more. In the garden, students were excited to use the food storage bags to take home the crops and vegetables they helped grow. Being able to harvest food and share it with their families made the learning experience feel real and memorable.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will continue applying these resources as we deepen our lessons on ecosystems and plant life. The bamboo sticks are already being used to support growing plants, such as our tomato plants, and students are learning firsthand how structure and support help plants grow taller and stronger. These materials are helping turn abstract concepts into concrete experiences, and they are creating learning moments my students will remember for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1760659659230,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning-classroom-supplies-fo/9762631/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Learning: Classroom Supplies for Creativity and Exploration","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Espi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8724820_orig.jpg?crop=722,722,x0,y447&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1701214572372","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8724820"},{"teacherId":8724820,"projectId":9200765,"letterContent":"🌱 Our garden last school year was such a success, and it truly wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of our donors. Thanks to your support, students got to experience the joy of planting, harvesting, and caring for the garden together — and they loved every moment of it.\r\n\r\nThis year, we can't wait to build on that success. Students will be designing the garden, deciding what to plant where, and creating a care schedule. They'll track plant growth, soil conditions, and even explore natural ways to handle pests, all while connecting it back to what we're learning in science about ecosystems and cycles. We'll also be weaving the garden into projects on pollinators, food chains, and water conservation. And of course, the best part will be harvesting and reflecting on everything they accomplished from start to finish.\r\n\r\nThe new materials we received will make this whole process so much easier and more engaging for our 7th graders. Thank you again for giving our students these opportunities — your generosity really does make a lasting difference. 🌿","fullyFundedDate":1746460829622,"projectUrl":"project/growing-minds-hands-on-learning-through/9200765/","projectTitle":"Growing Minds: Hands-On Learning Through Gardening","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Espi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8724820_orig.jpg?crop=722,722,x0,y447&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1701214572372","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8724820"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_32619","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1389,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":33,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":51,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"25.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":89.1,"schoolId":32619,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Palm Desert Charter Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Palm Desert Charter Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/desert-sands-unified-school-district/palm-desert-charter-middle-school/32619"}
