The Shakespeare books have been a huge hit. Since our 9th, 10th, and 12th graders are all required to read Shakespeare, having these books available has taken some pressure off our students. The No Fear Shakespeare editions are especially popular, they're always the first ones checked out!\r\n\r\nEach grade level also has independent reading projects, and several of the classic titles on our DonorsChoose list are part of those assignments. We were thrilled that our project was funded because it means we can better support our English curriculum and give students easier access to the books they need.\r\n\r\nThe supplies for our display case have also made a big difference in bringing students' attention to the library. So far, we've created two displays: \"Spring into Books\" and \"Graduation.\" We're kicking off the new school year with a pool-themed display, \"Books Are Lifesavers,\" which will be a fun way to welcome our incoming 9th graders during orientation.\r\n\r\nFor our library, DonorsChoose has truly been a lifesaver. For the first time, students could confidently bring dishes representing the cultural hearths of their families' countries of origin—foods that require refrigeration or careful reheating—to share with classmates. What once risked being limited to non-perishable items or store-bought snacks became a vibrant table of homemade favorites, from family recipes that had traveled across oceans to regional specialties prepared with care at home.\r\n\r\nBecause the donated appliances kept perishable ingredients at safe temperatures and allowed dishes to be properly reheated, food safety concerns that had previously limited participation largely disappeared. Students and their families felt comfortable contributing authentic foods knowing the fridge and microwave would protect both quality and health. For many students, some of whom spend hours commuting to and from school, your generosity provides more than a snack; it offers a sense of care during moments when they need it most. A simple granola bar, bag of popcorn, or favorite treat becomes a powerful reminder that there are people they may never meet who believe in them and want them to succeed.
