Your generosity has truly made a meaningful difference in my 6th-grade math classroom here in Winston-Salem.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students now have access to high-quality math tools—dry erase boards, coordinate grid maps, long division practice boards, graph paper, headphones, and sturdy pencils—that allow them to see and touch the math they are learning. These materials have transformed the way my students participate in lessons and how they build confidence in their abilities.\r\n\r\nHow is the technology helping students learn?\r\nThe wired headphones have been one of the most impactful resources. Many of my students work through digital math stations or replay instructional videos at their own pace. With the headphones, they can focus without distraction, listen closely to modeled steps, and revisit explanations whenever they need to. This simple technology is helping students take ownership of their learning and develop independence—something that isn't always visible to those outside the classroom, but makes an enormous difference day to day.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the new resources?\r\nStudents are absolutely energized by the hands-on materials. The Write-and-Wipe coordinate maps and long division dry erase boards have become the class favorites. Instead of feeling intimidated by graphing or multi-step division, students now enjoy practicing because they can erase mistakes quickly and keep trying. The graph paper and fresh pencils make their work feel clean and organized—small details that boost pride in their math thinking.\r\n\r\nOne student even said, \"It's like we get to do real mathematician work!\" Moments like that remind me why these tools are so powerful.\r\n\r\nAre there particular students who have especially warmed to the new tools?\r\nYes—several of my struggling learners have shown remarkable growth. One student who typically shuts down during division lessons has become one of the first to grab a long-division dry erase board. The wipeable format makes the work feel safe and approachable, and he now volunteers to explain his thinking to the class.\r\n\r\nAnother student who often doodles instead of completing assignments is suddenly more engaged, especially with the coordinate plane resources. She loves plotting points and graphing shapes, and she stays focused much longer when she has the write-and-wipe map in her hands.\r\n\r\nThese small but powerful changes are possible because your donation bridged the gap between what students needed and what we had.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has not only supported learning—it has sparked confidence, curiosity, and joy in math. As a Filipino educator committed to making math accessible and meaningful for all students, I cannot thank you enough for helping create a classroom where each child feels equipped to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1758647268619,"projectUrl":"project/quality-math-resources-and-manipulatives/9705864/","projectTitle":"Quality Math Resources and Manipulatives for Deeper Student Understanding","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mañalac","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9465121_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1707967044376","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9465121"},{"teacherId":9465121,"projectId":9276091,"letterContent":"I want to sincerely thank you for your generous support of our 6th Grade Math classroom. As the materials arrived—dry erase markers, sharpeners, graphing papers and boards, pencils, math manipulatives, and a classroom board organizer—my students grew increasingly excited. Before opening the boxes, we had a meaningful discussion about the importance of caring for these resources and appreciating that many students will benefit from them over time.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the supplies, their faces lit up with joy and amazement. They were thrilled to know that kind donors, including familiar faces from a TV series they enjoy, contributed to their learning environment. This generosity has inspired a strong sense of gratitude and excitement in our classroom.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I am confident these new resources will enrich our lessons and projects. More importantly, I believe the students will carry with them the valuable lesson of appreciating blessings and opportunities. It is my hope that this mindset will stay with them, nurturing gratitude in their minds and hearts for years to come.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for making such a positive impact on our classroom community.","fullyFundedDate":1746664457320,"projectUrl":"project/math-in-our-hands-making-concepts-click/9276091/","projectTitle":"Math in Our Hands: Making Concepts Click With Manipulatives!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mañalac","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9465121_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1707967044376","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9465121"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1516","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":543,"numTeachers":53,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":51,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"6 - 10","studentTeacherRatio":"10.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.5,"schoolId":1516,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Paisley IB Magnet School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Paisley IB Magnet School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/winston-salem-forsyth-county-schools/paisley-ib-middle-school/1516"}
