I have many students that have come from other countries and speak other languages so practicing writing the English alphabet on our white boards is a very helpful step to learning to read and write in English. There is new research showing how improving handwriting has a positive impact on students' fluency in reading and writing. Using whiteboards instead of paper is not only fun but it also allows for easier error correction when students mix up letters b and d or start writing a letter from the bottom instead of the top. The whiteboards, markers and erasers get a lot of use and need to be replaced sometimes. Students love getting to use a pristine white board, marker and eraser.\r\n\r\nWe are also enjoying our new books. Some students are learning English, some do not have many books at home and some find reading and writing challenging, however, there is always excitement when we have new materials. It is important and helpful for these students to feel excited, motivated and successful when we work together. Students love to be the first person to read a new book. \r\n\r\nStudents feel special when they get to use new materials. My students are making great strides and appreciate your support in their growth.","fullyFundedDate":1760384913309,"projectUrl":"project/support-young-readers-and-writers/9582928/","projectTitle":"Support Young Readers and Writers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Weiss","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/657180"},{"teacherId":1173435,"projectId":9793343,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my kindergarteners are having so much fun learning! The games you helped provide have turned our literacy practice into joyful, hands-on experiences. Students are eager to play and are excited to show how many letters and sounds they know. Every single child has made progress—each one now recognizes and names more letters and sounds than when we began!\r\n\r\nBeyond the academic growth, these games have helped my students build important social skills. They are learning how to take turns, cheer each other on, and be good sports—skills that will serve them far beyond kindergarten. It's been wonderful to watch them encourage their classmates and celebrate each other's success.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a real difference in our classroom. You've helped create an environment where learning feels like play, and every child feels proud of what they can do.
