Because of your generous support, what began as a collection of recipes blossomed into a profound journey of self-discovery and skill-building for our students at PACE High School.\r\nWatching the students curate their contributions was a masterclass in decision-making. They didn't just choose recipes based on taste; they carefully selected dishes that represent their family heritage and the life skills they want to carry forward into adulthood. Whether it was a grandmother's secret cookie recipe or a staple they mastered in our classroom kitchen, each choice was deeply personal.\r\nThe project went far beyond the kitchen. The students poured their creativity into designing custom cover pages and organized their books with specialized dividers. They learned the value of presentation and the satisfaction of seeing a multi-step project through to completion. Every page was printed, laminated to withstand the heat and spills of a real kitchen, and housed in a durable 3-ring binder. By designing them this way, we ensured these are not just one-time school projects—they are living documents that our students can add to and rely on for years to come.\r\nFor many of my students, this book is more than a list of ingredients; it is a tangible symbol of their independence and their ability to create something meaningful from scratch. You have given them the tools to nourish themselves, both literally and figuratively, as they move into their next chapters.\r\nThank you for believing in the potential of my students and for helping us turn this dream into a permanent, practical, and cherished resource.","fullyFundedDate":1764682083556,"projectUrl":"project/printing-dreams-help-our-students-publi/9869250/","projectTitle":"Printing Dreams: Help Our Students Publish Their Personal Cookbooks!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Record","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7775995_orig.jpg?crop=379,379,x119,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1614883720334","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7775995"},{"teacherId":8650844,"projectId":9593492,"letterContent":"My students and I are absolutely loving the new resources from Tools for Thoughtful Readers. We're currently in our poetry unit, so students have been using their new folders to keep all of their poems, drafts, and annotations neatly organized. Each period now has its own bin which has made transitions smoother and materials easier to find. A moment that really stood out was during a close-reading activity: students pulled out their folders, used their highlighters to mark figurative language, and concrete details using the Jane Schaffer method, and genuinely looked like confident, capable readers.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were so excited! They especially liked the white, sleek headphones—they immediately started using them for text-to-speech features to support their reading comprehension. The pencils were also a quiet but huge lifesaver for the students who often forget theirs. And the highlighters? They were a hit. Students loved using different colors to organize their ideas, especially as they begin preparing for their upcoming poem analysis.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will be diving deeper into interpreting poetry and writing a full poem analysis essay. These materials are helping them build consistency, organization, and confidence as they work through increasingly complex texts. Thanks to these resources, they have the tools they need to stay engaged, prepared, and excited about learning every day.
