I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for the owl pellets you generously donated to our class. Before Thanksgiving, we had the opportunity to dissect them, and the students were both excited and a bit grossed out! Many dove right in, while others needed a little encouragement to touch the \"owl vomit.\" It was a pivotal moment for them, as they began to understand that these pellets contained the remains of organisms eaten by owls.\r\n\r\nLeading up to this activity, we had been watching a live stream of an owl and her owlets. The students were captivated, especially when another owl came in and devoured the babies. This experience really helped them grasp the concept of food chains, and they eagerly searched for a baby owl skull in the pellets!\r\n\r\nFurthermore, the large easel chart you provided has been a fantastic resource. I've used it in my lessons, and students frequently refer to it when they have questions about owls and their food chain. After dissecting the pellets, the students won a day at the SC Aquarium, where they engaged wonderfully with certified staff, answering questions about ecosystems, food chains, food webs, and adaptations. Your donation helped them be able to make these connections.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support in enhancing our learning experience!","fullyFundedDate":1724063676348,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-food-chains/8666297/","projectTitle":"Engaging Food Chains","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Boggs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9073421_orig.jpg?crop=688,688,x0,y149&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690579528332","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mboggs"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_127562","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":24,"percentWhite":43,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":127562,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PACE Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PACE Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/south-carolina-public-charter-school-district/pace-academy/127562"}
