Many of the students wear headphones to help them filter out the confusing cacophony of noises that distract them: the noise collecting panels have helped these students dramatically. The students no longer hold their hands over their ears in an effort to keep noises out; instead, they are able to participate in their Physical Education program. Also, teachers do not have to raise their voices to give instructions, the noise panels assist the teachers so they can maintain an even and gentle voice volume. \r\n Thank you for making such a huge impact on the students in my school. Because of you, my classroom is filled with tools that truly give my non-verbal autistic students a voice, choice, and a sense of independence. Your support has already made a meaningful impact in ways both big and small.\r\n\r\nWe are using these materials daily to support communication, sensory regulation, and engagement across academic and social-emotional lessons. The visual supports and hands-on tools are helping students express choices, follow routines, and participate more independently in activities that were previously very challenging. One especially meaningful moment was during a small-group lesson when a student independently used the materials to communicate a need instead of becoming frustrated—something that used to require adult prompting. That moment alone showed us how powerful these tools are.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were immediate and joyful. Several students gravitated right toward the items, exploring them with curiosity and excitement. Some smiled, clapped, or vocalized, while others calmly engaged in a way that showed comfort and interest. Most importantly, the materials helped reduce anxiety and allowed students to feel successful right away.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using these resources to build consistent communication routines and expand academic engagement. Students are working on identifying preferences, making choices, and participating in structured lessons using visual supports. Over time, we will increase independence by encouraging students to initiate communication and remain engaged for longer periods. These tools will remain a foundational part of our classroom and will continue to support student growth throughout the year.\r\n\r\nThank you again for opening doors for my students and helping create a classroom where every child—no matter how they communicate—can be seen, heard, and valued. We are so grateful for you.","fullyFundedDate":1758899291460,"projectUrl":"project/voices-beyond-words-empowering-nonverba/9430548/","projectTitle":"Voices Beyond Words: Empowering Nonverbal Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Olivieri","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9564528_orig.jpg?crop=1476,1476,x0,y54&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1718399764178","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9564528"},{"teacherId":9163440,"projectId":9495234,"letterContent":"Using picture books with CDs in my classroom has made a significant difference in how my early readers learn and engage with stories. This resource has become an essential part of our literacy routine, helping my students build confidence, improve comprehension, and develop a genuine love for reading.\r\nWhen my students listen to the CDs while following along in their picture books, they are exposed to fluent reading and expressive storytelling. Hearing correct pronunciation, tone, and pacing supports their language development and models what good reading sounds like. This approach has especially benefited students who are still learning to decode words or who need extra support in understanding sentence structure and vocabulary.\r\nThe colorful illustrations in the picture books help students make sense of the story by providing visual clues. As they listen and look at the pictures, they are able to connect the text with meaning, which strengthens both comprehension and vocabulary growth. The stories come alive for them, and even my most reluctant readers show excitement and anticipation during these activities.\r\nIn addition to improving reading skills, picture books with CDs have encouraged independence in my classroom. Students enjoy selecting a book, putting on their headphones, and following along at their own pace. This fosters responsibility and a sense of ownership over their learning. It also allows me to provide differentiated instruction, as students can work on their reading skills individually or in small groups.\r\nOverall, the use of picture books with CDs has transformed literacy learning in my classroom. My students are more motivated to read, more attentive to details in stories, and more confident in their ability to understand and retell what they've read. This resource has truly made a lasting impact by creating joyful, meaningful, and inclusive reading experiences for all my learners.","fullyFundedDate":1758899242835,"projectUrl":"project/listening-learning-picture-books-with/9495234/","projectTitle":"Listening & Learning: Picture Books with CDs for Early Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. W","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9163440_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748266329321","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9163440"},{"teacherId":9163440,"projectId":9574351,"letterContent":"All the supplies you funded for my classroom have truly made an incredible impact. The snacks and cleaning supplies you helped provide have made a huge difference in our daily classroom life — in ways that go far beyond the surface.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, the students were genuinely excited. Many of them asked, \"Are these really for us?\" It was a heartwarming moment — they felt seen and cared for. The snacks have quickly become a lifeline for students who come to school without breakfast or need a little boost to stay focused during the day. One student said, \"I can actually think better after I eat something,\" and it's true — I've seen increased focus and energy during lessons since we started offering snacks regularly.\r\n\r\nThe tissues, wipes, and paper towels have also helped us maintain a clean, safe learning environment — which is more important than ever. Having these essentials readily available means we can quickly take care of spills, sneezes, or messes without disrupting learning time. It's also taught students responsibility and respect for their shared space.\r\n\r\nAs we continue working through our current units, these supplies are helping to create a more supportive and healthy learning environment — one where students can focus on being kids and learning, without worrying about hunger or feeling unwell.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible.
