This resource has become an essential part of our literacy routine, helping my students build confidence, improve comprehension, and develop a genuine love for reading.\r\nWhen my students listen to the CDs while following along in their picture books, they are exposed to fluent reading and expressive storytelling. Hearing correct pronunciation, tone, and pacing supports their language development and models what good reading sounds like. This approach has especially benefited students who are still learning to decode words or who need extra support in understanding sentence structure and vocabulary.\r\nThe colorful illustrations in the picture books help students make sense of the story by providing visual clues. As they listen and look at the pictures, they are able to connect the text with meaning, which strengthens both comprehension and vocabulary growth. The stories come alive for them, and even my most reluctant readers show excitement and anticipation during these activities.\r\nIn addition to improving reading skills, picture books with CDs have encouraged independence in my classroom. Students enjoy selecting a book, putting on their headphones, and following along at their own pace. This fosters responsibility and a sense of ownership over their learning. It also allows me to provide differentiated instruction, as students can work on their reading skills individually or in small groups.\r\nOverall, the use of picture books with CDs has transformed literacy learning in my classroom. My students are more motivated to read, more attentive to details in stories, and more confident in their ability to understand and retell what they've read. This resource has truly made a lasting impact by creating joyful, meaningful, and inclusive reading experiences for all my learners.","fullyFundedDate":1758899242835,"projectUrl":"project/listening-learning-picture-books-with/9495234/","projectTitle":"Listening & Learning: Picture Books with CDs for Early Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. W","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9163440_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748266329321","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9163440"},{"teacherId":9163440,"projectId":9574351,"letterContent":"All the supplies you funded for my classroom have truly made an incredible impact. These supplies have opened the door for my students to express themselves creatively and bring their ideas to life.\r\nArt projects have now become one of the most engaging parts of our learning routine. My students are excited to explore colors, textures, and shapes while developing their fine motor skills and imagination. The snacks and cleaning supplies you helped provide have made a huge difference in our daily classroom life — in ways that go far beyond the surface.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, the students were genuinely excited. Many of them asked, \"Are these really for us?\" It was a heartwarming moment — they felt seen and cared for. The snacks have quickly become a lifeline for students who come to school without breakfast or need a little boost to stay focused during the day. One student said, \"I can actually think better after I eat something,\" and it's true — I've seen increased focus and energy during lessons since we started offering snacks regularly.\r\n\r\nThe tissues, wipes, and paper towels have also helped us maintain a clean, safe learning environment — which is more important than ever. Having these essentials readily available means we can quickly take care of spills, sneezes, or messes without disrupting learning time. It's also taught students responsibility and respect for their shared space.\r\n\r\nAs we continue working through our current units, these supplies are helping to create a more supportive and healthy learning environment — one where students can focus on being kids and learning, without worrying about hunger or feeling unwell.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible. The moment we unpacked them, their eyes widened and voices buzzed with joy. \"It's so big!\" one student exclaimed, while another shouted, \"Can we read it right now?\" They were immediately drawn to the colorful illustrations and bold text, eager to point out familiar letters and characters.\r\n\r\nWe started with a classroom project called \"Story Detectives.\" Each day, we explore a new big book together—predicting what might happen next, hunting for sight words, and acting out scenes using props and puppets. One of the most magical moments happened during a reading of The Big Red Barn. As we read, students took turns identifying animal sounds and matching them with felt pieces on a story board. Their engagement and comprehension soared as they laughed, shared, and learned together.\r\n\r\nThese books have not only built literacy skills, but also confidence. Students who were once hesitant to speak up are now leading parts of the reading and encouraging their peers.\r\n\r\nNext Steps: We're currently working on a \"Create Your Own Big Book\" project. Students are using what they've learned about storytelling and illustration to write their own class books, which we'll bind and share with families at our end-of-year literacy celebration. In my 8:1:1 alternate assessment classroom—where eight students with significant learning needs are supported by one teacher and one teaching assistant—the integration of a MacBook Air for delivering interactive lessons on a Smart Board has significantly enhanced both teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes. This combination of devices has created a dynamic, engaging, and accessible educational environment tailored to the unique needs of my students.\r\n\r\nOne of the most significant impacts of using the MacBook Air and Smart Board is the increase in student engagement. Many of my students have attention deficits, sensory processing challenges, or communication difficulties. Traditional teaching methods often fall short in capturing their interest or accommodating their needs. However, by leveraging the MacBook Air's capabilities to run interactive applications, educational games, and multimedia presentations, I can present lessons in a visually stimulating and interactive format. When projected onto the Smart Board, these lessons become accessible to all students, allowing them to physically interact with content through touch, movement, and choice-making. This multisensory approach helps sustain their focus and fosters greater participation during lessons.\r\n\r\nAnother critical advantage is the ability to deliver differentiated instruction. Each student in my classroom has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that outlines specific goals tailored to their learning profiles. The MacBook Air allows me to easily access and customize content to align with these goals. For example, I can adjust the reading level of digital texts, use visual supports for nonverbal learners, or incorporate video modeling for life skills instruction. The flexibility of digital tools ensures that instruction is accessible and meaningful to each student, regardless of their cognitive or communication abilities.","fullyFundedDate":1730219499857,"projectUrl":"project/macbook-air-for-interactive-lessons-on-t/8676519/","projectTitle":"MacBook Air For Interactive Lessons On the Smart Board.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. W","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9163440_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748266329321","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9163440"},{"teacherId":2154625,"projectId":9056397,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping my students learn the valuable skill of hygiene.
