These buckets are already getting their use! They have not only been used for the cardio drumming unit but they have been used for the soccer unit when we did stations, they were used for targets during underhand throwing activities, and have made stations overall so much easier for me to handle. \r\n\r\nWhen I used the buckets for stations the students really liked how they had the numbers on the buckets. It really helped the younger students when remembering where their next station was. When introducing the cardio drumming unit, the students were hesitant at first. But loved all of the new equipment we had so it helped to get them excited about this new unit. This was the first time the students have experienced cardio drumming and they loved it! I had so many students asking to continue the unit even longer because they enjoyed it so much. Such a fun and different way to get kids moving in my class, all while adding in music and rhythm. \r\n\r\nI am very excited to use these buckets for so many more in the coming lessons. I also can't wait to have the students do their cardio drumming unit next year. Thank you so much for helping create such an exciting and new unit!","fullyFundedDate":1732045069290,"projectUrl":"project/cardio-drumming-buckets/8872182/","projectTitle":"Cardio Drumming Buckets!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Schmitz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9487388"},{"teacherId":9810971,"projectId":8893594,"letterContent":"When we adopted our current reading program over 5 years ago, it appeared to have everything a teacher would want or need in order to teach their students how to read. Although the program had many wonderful books and interesting topics, it did not provide a science-based approach to teaching reading. As our test scores continued to decline, it became apparent that we needed a better way to teach reading in our district.\r\n\r\nAround the time of this realization, the State of Wisconsin passed a reading law that mandated Science of Reading practices. The state came out with an approved list of curricular materials that met the mandates. Since we were already looking at new materials, we decided to pilot two of the programs that were approved by the state and were open-source materials. With a failed referendum and budget cuts being made throughout the district, I knew a curricular purchase would not be possible. Even with the curriculum being open-source (AKA- free!), the books we needed would have to be purchased. \r\n\r\nWithout the necessary funds to purchase these books, our students faced another year of using a program that did not effectively teach a majority of our students how to read. Because of the generous donations from all of you, we were able to purchase many of the materials we needed to adopt a new, more effective program for our first grade students, one of the most critical grades for learning how to read. The teachers have been using these new materials. The teachers love the lesson plans. The students love the books! But most importantly, our students are learning how to read!
