Thanks to your support, we were able to purchase new scientific hot plates that have become an essential tool for our experiments. For example, during our recent chemistry project on the properties of different liquids, the students used the hot plates to carefully heat and observe reactions. The hands-on nature of this experiment brought textbook concepts to life, and the students were engaged in a way that truly deepened their understanding. They were excited to see the hot plates in action, and their reactions ranged from awe to curiosity as they manipulated the equipment for the first time.\r\n\r\nWhen the hot plates first arrived, my students were thrilled. They immediately asked questions and began brainstorming experiments they could conduct using them. The ability to safely heat materials and monitor chemical reactions has sparked their interest in science more than ever before. Moving forward, they'll be using these hot plates to explore more complex experiments and even work on creating their hypotheses to test. This new resource is not only helping them learn science but also encouraging their critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a real-world context.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your invaluable contribution. Your support has empowered my students to explore and engage with science in ways that make a lasting difference in their education.","fullyFundedDate":1721748796609,"projectUrl":"project/science-in-action/8453132/","projectTitle":"Science in Action","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gilmore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9122416_orig.jpg?crop=389,389,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752765499200","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9122416"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56779","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":685,"numTeachers":50,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":83,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":56779,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ottawa High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ottawa High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/ottawa-unified-school-district-290/ottawa-high-school/56779"}
