The books have been welcomed with enthusiasm and excitement with many of our students. In particular, we have native Spanish-speaking students that have expressed being excited to read--and that's a first! One particular incidence occurred when students were staying after school and reading a book out loud to each other. Five girls were enraptured by the stories and they were gasping at plot twists, screaming at turn of events, and wanting to finish the book. This enthusiasm was due to your contribution! \r\n\r\nLiteracy is a gift that too many take for granted. Representation in books increases student engagement and desire to participate, thus spurring a life time love of reading.
