When the Donor's Choose supplies arrived in our classroom, I spent 3.5 hours opening them up and setting up the class library. I wanted it ready for the next day when they came to class. It was so fun to see then surprised look on each students face as they walked in for class the next morning. They were all smiles, and a few kids ran over and gave me a hug. The class library has quickly become everyone's favorite space in our classroom. All of the books are neatly organized in the colorful bins, and the rug looks so pretty with all of the floor cushions and colorful pillows spread out. We have a small bench that the kids love to lay on to read. Each day I post a list with each students name so they know exactly when it will be their turn to work in the library. We also created classroom norms around the usage and care of the new class library, and I am thrilled to see how the students respect the space and want to keep it nice.\r\n\r\nWe are looking forward to using this space a lot!","fullyFundedDate":1758565717919,"projectUrl":"project/today-a-reader-tomorrow-a-leader/9659467/","projectTitle":"Today A Reader Tomorrow A Leader","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hanson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10229162"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36397","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":165,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":70,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":36397,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Orcas Island Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Orcas Island Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/orcas-island-school-district-137/orcas-elementary-school/36397"}
