As part of our Service Stars initiative to \"Spread Kindness,\" students will use these materials next school year to organize a bilingual cultural celebration that honors our school's unsung heroes—custodians, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, ESE and ESOL assistants, and other essential support staff. The project will give students the chance to design heartfelt cards, decorate event spaces, and prepare personalized tokens of appreciation, all while practicing their language skills and embracing cultural expression.\r\n\r\nEven though the celebration is planned for next year, students were thrilled when the materials arrived. They've already begun brainstorming ideas and planning how to make the event truly special. This project has inspired conversations around gratitude, empathy, and the importance of community service. As we head into the new school year, the Festival de Gratitud will be one of our first major projects—one that brings the school together and allows our students to shine as leaders of kindness. This booster in visual quality has noticeably increased student participation: learners who were once hesitant to share their work now beam with pride when their creations look as bright and professional as those they see in real-world contexts.\r\n\r\nWhat truly excites our students is the immediacy and ownership this technology affords them. Finally, CAPT McAllister was able to secure a grant through Embry Riddle to receive a drone Soccer Kit. As a result, we were able to get a class set of the novel Red Rising by Pierce Brown. First, having access to brand new books is such a privilege. Oftentimes, our books are falling apart or taped together from frequent use. There is just a feel of holding a brand new book that makes students excited to be able to read it. \r\n\r\nWe read this novel as a whole group novel for our science fiction unit. Students have opted to take this ELA elective where we get to rediscover our love of reading by reading books students actually enjoy and can select themselves. Thanks to your donation we are able to read a contemporary novel, not just this year, but also with future classes!\r\n\r\nThank you again!
