While many of our donors use printers at home for basic documents, in a career and technical education classroom, a printer becomes an instructional powerhouse. Our students are not just printing worksheets — they are printing state board preparation materials, client consultation forms, chemical service records, sanitation logs, business plans, resumes, marketing flyers, and SkillsUSA competition guidelines. Having immediate access to these materials allows us to run our classroom like a real salon environment. Students can practice completing professional documentation, organizing client files, and preparing portfolios just as they would in the workforce. This technology supports both technical skill development and essential employability skills such as organization, accuracy, time management, and professionalism.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the new printer is the independence and efficiency it brings to our classroom. Instead of waiting for limited access elsewhere in the building, students can quickly print what they need and stay focused on the task at hand. For example, during a recent lesson on client consultations and chemical texture services, students printed their own consultation forms and practiced documenting mock services on mannequins. They were able to highlight important safety precautions, attach service notes, and build realistic client folders. It made the lesson feel authentic and elevated their sense of responsibility. Students also love printing their resumes and salon business cards as we prepare for SkillsUSA competitions and future employment opportunities. Holding a professionally printed resume in their hands builds confidence and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially warmed to this new technology. Some of our students thrive when they can see their work come to life in a tangible format. One student who often struggles with organization has taken ownership of maintaining her service portfolio. She now prints each completed project, neatly organizes it in a binder, and reviews it to prepare for assessments. Another group of students interested in entrepreneurship became particularly excited when printing their salon marketing materials. They designed price lists and promotional flyers, then printed them to simulate launching their own salon brand. Seeing their creative ideas professionally produced sparked meaningful conversations about branding, pricing, and customer communication.\r\n\r\nBeyond the excitement, this printer has improved instructional flow and maximized our 40-minute and 80-minute class periods. We lose less time transitioning between spaces and gain more hands-on practice time. In cosmetology education, time on task matters. Every extra minute practicing proper documentation, sanitation procedures, or business planning directly supports their preparation for New Jersey state licensure and future careers.\r\n\r\nYour donation has done more than provide equipment — it has strengthened career readiness, increased student confidence, and elevated the professionalism of our learning environment. Our classroom now mirrors the expectations of the beauty industry more closely, and our students feel empowered knowing they have the tools they need to succeed. Thank you for investing in their future and helping us build a classroom that reflects real-world standards.","fullyFundedDate":1770057058543,"projectUrl":"project/printer-for-classroom/10060140/","projectTitle":"Printer for Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Perez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9448601_orig.png?crop=645,645,x61,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752619295508","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9448601"},{"teacherId":9448601,"projectId":10051960,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our cosmetology students now have the essential items they were missing as they prepare for SkillsUSA, which will take place at the end of March. Although the competition is still several weeks away, receiving the T-shirts to wear under their uniforms, hygiene items like deodorant, and essential competition supplies has already made a tremendous impact. Instead of worrying about how they would afford required items, students can now focus fully on practicing, refining their techniques, and building confidence for competition day.\r\n\r\nThe first day I distributed the materials, the reaction was immediate and heartfelt. Students carefully went through each item, organizing their competition kits and discussing how they would use everything during their events. Several students said, \"Now I can actually practice the right way,\" and \"I feel more prepared already.\" That sense of relief was powerful. For many of our families, even smaller required items can create financial stress. By providing these essentials, you removed a barrier and ensured that every student has what they need to practice properly and professionally from now until March.\r\n\r\nWe are already using the new resources during structured after-school and in-class competition prep sessions. Our cosmetology competitors are practicing timed setups and breakdowns, ensuring they can organize their stations exactly as required. Our nail technology student is rehearsing her full competition routine, focusing on sanitation, presentation, and efficiency. Our esthetics competitor is practicing facial protocols while maintaining professional hygiene standards. Even our Knowledge Bowl team is practicing in full professional dress to build confidence and team unity. Having the proper under-uniform shirts and hygiene products reinforces a critical lesson we emphasize daily: professionalism is part of the skill set. Students are holding each other accountable, checking one another's presentation, and taking greater pride in how they show up.\r\n\r\nThe next steps are focused on refinement and consistency. Between now and the end of March, students will continue timed mock competitions, peer critiques, and instructor feedback sessions to strengthen both technical skills and professional presence. As competition approaches, we will conduct full simulation days to mirror the real event environment. These materials will continue to be used throughout this preparation process, ensuring students practice exactly as they will perform.\r\n\r\nYour support has done more than provide supplies, it has given students the confidence to prepare without hesitation. They now know they are fully equipped to compete, represent our school with pride, and see themselves as future professionals in the beauty industry. Thank you for investing in their growth, confidence, and success.","fullyFundedDate":1769709134709,"projectUrl":"project/nj-skillsusa/10051960/","projectTitle":"NJ SkillsUSA","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Perez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9448601_orig.png?crop=645,645,x61,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752619295508","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9448601"},{"teacherId":4796003,"projectId":9947170,"letterContent":"Because of you, our DonorsChoose project for snacks was fully funded, and has already made a difference!\r\n\r\nNJROTC is about far more than uniforms and drills.
