My physical education program is something I am trying hard to build up at Greenwood. This is becoming a reality thanks to your generous donations. My first priority is student safety and the new scooter boards are allowing my students to move and learn valuable skills to last a lifetime. The scooters are usually one of the most popular items in the gym. My old scooters were cracking and wheels would not move. They have many miles on them which made them a worthwhile investment but they were becoming unsafe and unusable. My students from kindergarten to fifth grade will be using these. Scooters are used in my program through out the year for many activities. I was able to get 16 new scooters. When I showed the classes, they all screamed and clapped!\r\n Not only do I teach physical education, I also teach health to all classes too. With the donations, I was able to get items that will give my students some hands on opportunities to help with my lessons. I was able to get four large sets of teeth and a giant toothbrush. The teeth also have tongue for students to practice brushing. During my dental health unit, I will have the students practice brushing the teeth properly. This will be a small group activity. Then we have a brush off activity where we see who can brush the stain away faster. I make it a relay activity for upper grades. \r\n To continue to grow my health lessons, the my plate games will give my students away to practice the food choices in a fun engaging way. The posters will provide learning opportunities and give the anchor charts. The protective pockets and dry erase markers and other materials will give me years worth of learning. \r\n\r\n The new equipment will be used year round for all grade levels providing them safe and effective learning environment. To make them gain skills to last a lifetime for their overall healthy life. This would not be possible without you. I'm still continuing to work on my program and appreciate your generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1748896620214,"projectUrl":"project/safe-fun-active-learning-pe-makes-all-th/9344444/","projectTitle":"Safe Fun Active Learning PE Makes All the Difference","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Leigh","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10032063_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751981870062","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10032063"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53194","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":549,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":44,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":70.8,"schoolId":53194,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Oliver C Greenwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Oliver C Greenwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/newport-news-public-schools/oliver-c-greenwood-elementary-school/53194"}
