The items I have chosen for my project will allow me to create a comfortable and welcoming environment for all students. I would like to make a reading corner with the cubed shelves and fill them with all kinds of books! In the "cozy corner" I would put the beanbag and carpet, along with pillows so that students can cuddle up and practice reading. This area would minimalism distractions and give students a quiet space to work. I would also place the plush book characters on top of the cubed shelves with their corresponding book to feature popular titles. Students get very excited seeing their favorite characters come to life!
Every item on my list is purposeful and will be used to enhance student engagement during play and learning. Larger items on my list, such as the mailboxes and easel, have been added as essentials I will need to keep students engaged and organized. I will use the white board easel for morning meetings and lessons (either physically or virtually) and the mailbox for student work and parent communication.
If my district should choose to go virtual, I would still use items such as the whiteboard and stuffed animals to engage my students and make them feel that they are in their cozy classroom.
