Your support has transformed how my students experience reading and learning. The new titles you helped us acquire have introduced our students to diverse characters, perspectives, and cultures they might never encounter otherwise. Through these books, my students are developing critical literacy skills—they're learning to analyze different viewpoints, make connections across texts, and think critically about the world around them. Most importantly, they're discovering that reading is a gateway to understanding themselves and others.\r\nReading in our classroom has become a joyful ritual. Students now have genuine choice in what they read, which has sparked real engagement and enthusiasm. I've watched shy students light up when they find a book that speaks to them, and reluctant readers become invested in stories that reflect their lives and interests. One student in particular—who rarely engaged with academics—discovered a graphic novel series and has been devouring book after book. Another student found a memoir by someone who shares her cultural background and told me it was the first time she'd ever seen herself in a book. These moments remind me why diverse, abundant classroom libraries matter so deeply.\r\nBecause of donors like you, my students now have access to literature that validates their identities, expands their horizons, and fuels their love of reading. In a community where books are often scarce, your generosity has created a sanctuary of stories and possibilities. Thank you for believing in the power of diverse books to change young lives.","fullyFundedDate":1755692366802,"projectUrl":"project/growing-and-diversifying-my-classroom-li/9605073/","projectTitle":"Growing and Diversifying my Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Gifford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9787712"},{"teacherId":8951879,"projectId":9954635,"letterContent":"Thank you for the donations to purchase art supplies for our students!! They have really truly enjoyed having different styles of art available for projects. We also have plenty of supplies for Fun Fridays and random art during the week! \r\nThe peel and stick foam projects are a HUGE hit with every learner. They're learning to follow verbal and visual instructions to complete a project from start to finish. We've also found out that many of our learners can look at the completed project & know how to make it without explicit instructions! \r\nOur students are so proud of their hard work. Some students insist on keeping their art in their rooms, while others proudly display it in our hall so all students and staff can celebrate what they've made. They love when we read the books out loud and use silly voices. After we've read it out loud, they enjoy reading them independently. Our youngest learners love looking at the pictures and saying the emotions they see on the pages. \r\nThese materials have opened so many new opportunities for teaching and discussing regulation skills. The books teach real life ways to work on being calm, respectful, confident, and so much more. The visuals for different breathing techniques are so great to use to teach these skills & then we get to hang them up in calm done spaces as a reminder of what to do when we have big feelings! \r\nThe lessons that we're able to teach go beyond what's on the pages and we couldn't have done it without the support from our gracious donors!!","fullyFundedDate":1754602178516,"projectUrl":"project/socially-savvy-social-skills-with-pictur/9238812/","projectTitle":"Socially Savvy Social Skills with Picture Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gates","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8951879"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_130610","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":45,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":65.9,"schoolId":130610,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ogden City School District - Bridges Program on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ogden City School District - Bridges Program","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/ogden-school-district/ogden-city-school-district-special-education/130610"}
