Each of our 72 students have a new binder, their own supplies to go into the binder, and enough math manipulatives to go around! The cart is now built and has added so much function in our space. \r\n\r\nAlmost all of the kids at our school are from low-income families, so it's a huge deal to get new things. They were beyond shocked to know that you had gifted brand new supplies and tools for them to use. Even the simple fact of having new blocks that connected to each other made their smiles grow even wider!\r\n\r\nBeyond their excitement, I feel a deep appreciation for your contribution to our room. Though you've never stepped foot in here, you still chose to support my mission of providing high-quality support for students who are several years behind. The students have already been using the Lego blocks, base-ten blocks, and the whiteboards! The Lego blocks were used in our social studies section of the day. We were learning about maps and how they work. We decided to build 9 buildings and place them in a grid to then create a paper map based on our Lego City. \r\n\r\nThe students were very excited about all the new hands-on tools that they would be able to use this year! They may not understand yet how all the new tools will be used but they are excited for the exploration. The microscopes will be a huge step in this exploration and we cannot wait to use them! \r\n\r\nWe will be using more Lego bricks for a surface area and volume project later in math. The Lego bricks will also be used as an option for a science project about the solar system. The geometry shapes we have not used yet but will be used for a deep lesson about fractions and how fractions work. I appreciate all who donated to this project!
