I am privileged to teach an amazing group of students whose reading levels cover a wide range. My goal every day is to help instill a genuine love of reading for all. However, when a student is unable to enjoy the books in our classroom library because they aren't at their current ability, it leads to many students feeling like they don't belong. \r\n\r\nOur class curriculum allows me to differentiate my lessons to make sure I am able to connect the text to my students' culturally rich lives. Some of these titles you generously donated help students continue to see themselves in the books they read outside of my lessons. Students see the physical similarities between themselves and characters like Yazmin and Camila, while others who love video games find themselves drawn to the Press Start collection. Thanks to your generous donation, my students have so many fun titles to choose from, and their willingness to not only participate but actively look for new books to read on their own time has increased. \r\n\r\nI am so honored to spend the school year with the students that I do, and I am grateful that with your help I am better able to meet their specific needs, as well as the needs of students for future years to come. My school takes pride in being rooted in our community, and I'm grateful to include you in that community now, too.","fullyFundedDate":1769260139339,"projectUrl":"project/books-are-magic/9943630/","projectTitle":"Books are MAGIC!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Evink","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6600061_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y509&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764779896683","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kerry-hamilton"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_55020","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":684,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":36,"percentAsian":26,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":33,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":55020,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Oak Point Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Oak Point Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/eden-prairie-schools/oak-point-intermediate-school/55020"}
