Because of you, my students now have hands-on access to instruments that are already transforming our music room into an even more joyful, creative, and collaborative space.\r\n\r\nWe are using the ukuleles daily as part of our general music lessons. Students are learning basic chords, steady strumming patterns, and how to play together as an ensemble. One especially memorable moment was our very first class ukulele circle. Students worked together to play a simple song, and when they realized they were all making music as a group, their faces absolutely lit up. That moment of pride and teamwork was priceless and wouldn't have been possible without your support.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the ukuleles, the reaction was pure excitement. There were gasps, smiles, and lots of \"We get to play those?!\" Many students had never held a stringed instrument before, and the ukuleles immediately made music feel approachable and fun. Even my more hesitant learners were eager to participate, which has been wonderful to see.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue building their skills by learning new chords and beginning to accompany songs they already love to sing. We are also starting a simple composition project where students create their own rhythmic or melodic patterns using the ukuleles. These lessons are helping students grow not only as musicians, but also as confident, creative learners.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving my students this meaningful musical opportunity. Your generosity has made a lasting impact, and we are so grateful for the peek you've taken into our classroom and for being part of our musical journey.","fullyFundedDate":1760382481623,"projectUrl":"project/uke-can-change-students-lives/9768341/","projectTitle":"\"Uke\" Can Change Students' Lives!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Painter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10291213_orig.png?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759013964186","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10291213"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1309","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":294,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":60,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.2,"schoolId":1309,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Oak Hill Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Oak Hill Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/burke-county-school-district/oak-hill-elementary-school/1309"}
