With iPads and Seesaw as our digital platforms, students now have the tools to produce high-quality audio recordings—whether reading their writing aloud, narrating stories, or explaining their thinking in other subjects. This technology helps build confidence and fluency as students listen back, reflect, and improve their work. It also gives them a professional-level experience that mirrors what real artists, podcasters, and storytellers use, sparking a deeper sense of ownership and pride in their projects.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been the creative freedom these tools provide. They love stepping into the \"studio\" to record, experiment with their voices, and add sound effects or music. The headphones allow them to focus deeply, blocking out distractions so they can hear every detail of their recordings. Many students who were once shy about reading aloud now eagerly volunteer to record and share their voices, knowing their work will sound clear and polished.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular, who used to struggle with confidence during writing time, now shines when recording her stories. With the headphones on and mic in hand, she lights up—reading with expression and joy. Experiences like hers show how this technology doesn't just support academic growth; it builds self-esteem and helps students see themselves as capable creators and communicators.","fullyFundedDate":1755054888883,"projectUrl":"project/voices-of-the-future-2nd-grade-tech-cre/9362138/","projectTitle":"Voices of the Future: 2nd Grade Tech Creators","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Turck","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4796374_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1506251144111","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrturcksclass"},{"teacherId":8609597,"projectId":9166197,"letterContent":"Thank you for adding magnificence items to our kindergarten classroom. As predicted, my students look forward to and always enjoy themselves in what we call \"Game Time!\" Unbeknownst to them, they are not only playing, they are engaging in language rich, science of reading focused, and differentiated learning activities. When I created this project, this is exactly what I expected to happen. However, this game folder library has helped me offer opportunities for growth beyond English Language skills. \r\n\r\nFirst, there are 40 games in this folder library. They cover a wide range of language skills, appropriate for both beginning level and advanced learners. This gives me the ability to choose players for games that are differentiated for their current skill and language goals. This avoids the very common phrases, \"This is so easy!\" and \"This is too hard.\" In turn, building confidence in every learner. \r\n\r\nOn the flip side, playing one game as a class or having students play in groups with varying levels has created opportunities for students to be leaders. The nature of the games are that of a single team effort. The games do not have Monopoly style game pieces and end with one winner. They are made to be cooperative. Instead of stopping arguments about who the winner is or whose turn it is, I watch students use language to support each other and give hugs when they all \"win.\" \r\n\r\nThank you again for donating to my project. The Early Language Game Folder Library has supported my teaching and the students in both expected and unexpected ways. The games meet students where their skills are and helps them build confidence in their language as they grow. They offer opportunities for students to become leaders and use their language skills to support their friends. And finally, they give students chances to build social skills by taking turns and work cooperatively. Please know that your donation has had and will continue to have a significant positive impact on my students grow as learners and as people.","fullyFundedDate":1732650048773,"projectUrl":"project/kick-start-language-language-learning-wi/8941995/","projectTitle":"Kick-Start Language Language Learning with Science of Reading Focused Games","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9835571"},{"teacherId":9678472,"projectId":8779778,"letterContent":"Using sensory bin materials for sorting in the preschool classroom provided an engaging and hands-on way to encourage essential social skills like sharing and teamwork. As children worked together to sort a variety of materials—such as colored buttons, beads, or blocks—they needed to communicate and collaborate on how to organize the items. This process helped them practice sharing resources, as they had to take turns using the materials, such as scoops or containers, and ensure everyone had an opportunity to participate. Through this shared activity, children learned the value of patience and fairness, which are foundational components of teamwork.\r\n\r\nSorting also offered children the chance to build critical cognitive skills while reinforcing the concept of categorization. As they sorted materials by color, shape, or size, they had to explain their reasoning to peers, fostering language development and cooperative problem-solving. Working as a team, preschoolers learned how to negotiate and make decisions together, ensuring that the sorting task was completed in a way that satisfied everyone involved. The structured, yet open-ended nature of sensory bins allowed children to engage with the materials creatively while simultaneously practicing important social skills, such as listening, turn-taking, and collaborating with others.","fullyFundedDate":1726746333675,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-bin/8779778/","projectTitle":"Sensory Bin","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Leite","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9678472"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_55169","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":878,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":48,"percentWhite":36,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":69.6,"schoolId":55169,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Oak Hill Community Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Oak Hill Community Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/st-cloud-independent-school-district-742/oak-hill-community-elementary-school/55169"}
