Students are able to spend less time searching for what they need and more time learning, exploring, and participating. Our floor seating has quickly become a favorite, especially when we gather together for science demonstrations, experiments, and discussions. Together, we have been able to help student process through complex grief feelings through bibliotherapy, art therapy, journaling, and more all in a school setting. The resources YOU helped provide made a way for these students to begin healing from the profound losses they have experienced. The books that were donated (a few of them pictured) range in topic and themes, such as navigating family dynamic changes such as divorce, separation, and death while others address trauma or the feelings that may be left behind after a traumatic event. The activity pictured is an activity called \"Healing Hearts\". Students make a heart out of craft paper to represent their life before loss. The student then crumples the heart, ripping it into pieces, representing the death or loss of their loved one. The student then uses bandaids to \"heal\" the heart. The arrival of our new alphabet rug and the individual circle mats has truly transformed our classroom environment, and I wish you could see the sheer joy on my students' faces when they walked in and saw their new learning space.\r\n\r\nIn a primary classroom, the floor is so much more than just a surface to walk on; it is our primary meeting place, our laboratory for ideas, and our sanctuary for quiet reflection. Before your gift arrived, our \"carpet time\" was often a bit chaotic. We were making do with an old, worn-out rug that didn't have enough space for everyone, leading to constant shuffling and distractions. Now, the atmosphere has shifted entirely.\r\n\r\nA Foundation for Literacy\r\nThe alphabet rug is a masterpiece of functional design. Each student now has their own \"home base\" identified by a letter. This has done wonders for our classroom management, but more importantly, it has turned every transition into a literacy moment.\r\n\r\nDuring our morning meetings, we play games based on the letters they are sitting on. We practice phonics, letter recognition, and sequencing just by looking down at our feet. It's a vibrant, colorful constant in their lives that reinforces the building blocks of reading every single day. For my kinesthetic learners, being able to physically hop to the letter \"B\" or trace the curves of an \"S\" on the carpet during a lesson makes the abstract concept of language feel tangible and real.\r\n\r\nFreedom to Explore\r\nThe addition of the circle mats has been equally revolutionary. These mats have granted my students the gift of mobility and choice. During independent reading time, the \"reading nook\" is no longer confined to one corner of the room.\r\n\r\nI've watched as students grab their mats and find a quiet spot under a table, next to the window, or beside the classroom library. These mats provide a defined, comfortable boundary that helps them settle into their books. It tells them: \"This is your space to focus.\" By providing these comfortable spots, you have helped me foster a genuine love for reading. They aren't just sitting on the floor; they are embarking on adventures in a space that feels special and respected.\r\n\r\nThe Impact of Your Kindness\r\nBeyond the physical items, your donation sends a powerful message to my students: Your education matters. Many of our students come from backgrounds where resources are scarce, and walking into a classroom filled with high-quality, beautiful materials tells them that their community believes in their potential.\r\n\r\n\"When a classroom looks and feels like a place where big things happen, students start to believe they can achieve big things.\"\r\n\r\nYou have provided more than just classroom supplies; you have provided a sense of belonging and a professional environment for these young scholars to grow. The rug and mats have become the heart of our classroom—the place where we share our dreams, solve our conflicts, and celebrate our victories.\r\n\r\nLooking Ahead\r\nAs we move through the school year, these items will continue to be used every hour of every day. They are durable, bright, and exactly what we needed to turn our room into a true home for learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for choosing to support us through DonorsChoose.
