They were eager to take each one, gaze at the front and back covers, and flip through the crisp pages to release the \"new book\" aroma. Several students couldn't decide which book to start reading first. One girl bounced up and down with excitement because I had a copy of one of the books that was always checked out from the school's library. Some of the students wanted to pose for a picture for Donor's Choose. In the background is a student in a yellow shirt who preferred to not be in a picture because she wanted to immeadiately start reading. Others started making a TikTok video to show off which book they were going to read next. \r\n\r\nAs I close out this letter, I need to set the scene for you. Many students came by during their lunch to talk books and pick out a new novel. It was a stormy day during September and the weather suddenly became more severe. The school was placed on a \"weather hold\" and about 20 students had to stay put in the classroom we were in. For over two hours, with the rhythm of rain and the roll of thunder in the background, the students got to share with each other and read their own books plus the books made possible by the donors on Donors Choose.
