The moment we unboxed everything, their reactions were priceless—especially when they saw the bright blue bean bag chairs and sage green lap desks. One of my students cheered and asked, \"Wait, we actually get to sit in these to read?!\" Knowing that people outside our school cared enough to support our classroom made my kids feel genuinely seen and appreciated.\r\n\r\nWe put these supplies to work right away. During our reading block, students grab lap desks to spread out across the room or claim a bean bag with their independent reading books. Personal phones go straight into our wooden desktop organizer, keeping our space completely distraction-free, while my new mobile standing desk lets me easily roll around the room for quick check-ins. The kids are also completely obsessed with their individual mini whiteboards and fine-tip markers—6th graders will work through almost any task if you give them a whiteboard and a marker!\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're about to jump into our very first writing unit of the year: narrative writing. These whiteboards are going to be such a game-changer for us. Students will use them every single day to brainstorm character ideas, map out plot mountains, try out different hook sentences, and practice writing dialogue before they ever touch paper. With our giant bottle of Expo cleaner and Clorox wipes, class helpers will keep everything wiped down and ready between periods. Thank you so much for giving my students a space where they feel comfortable, focused, and excited to write their own stories!","fullyFundedDate":1778267330896,"projectUrl":"project/ms-salamins-classroom/10263353/","projectTitle":"Ms. Salamin's Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Salamin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10493431_orig.jpg?crop=2519,2519,x207,y2125&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777991353217","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-salamin"},{"teacherId":1745666,"projectId":9793622,"letterContent":"Esports is an exciting and relevant activity for middle school and up.
