Because of your generosity, our \"Storybooks & Tassels: Our First Graduation\" project helped make that milestone unforgettable for our NC Pre-K classrooms and our two Head Start graduates.\r\n\r\nThe books you provided are much more than stories. Every page has become an opportunity to build early literacy skills while creating precious moments of connection. As we read together, our children learn letter recognition, vocabulary, story sequencing, comprehension, prediction, and the confidence to share their own ideas. They are discovering that books can make them laugh, comfort them, teach them, and inspire them to dream. Even more importantly, they are learning empathy, kindness, resilience, and the joy of seeing themselves reflected in a story.\r\n\r\nReading is the heartbeat of our classroom. We gather together on the carpet, little eyes wide with anticipation as a new story begins. Our students eagerly ask questions, predict what will happen next, retell stories in their own words, and carry those adventures into our dramatic play, art, writing, and science centers. Some children who were once hesitant to speak now proudly volunteer to tell the story. Others ask if we can read their favorite book \"just one more time.\" Those moments remind us that we are doing so much more than teaching children to read—we are helping them fall in love with learning.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has touched twenty young lives in ways that will continue long after graduation day. The books on our shelves will be opened by eager little hands again and again, creating memories for this class and for many classes still to come.
