Students created ripple patterns in water to observe how waves transfer energy without transferring matter. The trays made it easy for them to see how the size and frequency of the waves changed with different inputs, making the concept much more engaging and hands-on.\r\n\r\nThey were so excited! Many of them immediately started predicting what would happen when we created waves in the trays. The hands-on nature of the materials grabbed their attention right away—they loved that they could see science in action instead of just reading about it. It sparked a lot of curiosity and conversation about waves in everyday life, from sound and light to ocean waves.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will apply what they learned by designing simple experiments to demonstrate different types of waves—transverse and longitudinal—and by exploring real-world applications of energy transfer. They'll also be creating short presentations to explain how wave energy can be used in technology and communication.
