Because of your generosity, my students are learning by doing in ways that simply weren't possible before. We are using the sewing machine, embroidery supplies, Cricut vinyl cutter, heat press, Makey Makey kits, and conductive LED stickers to design and build real, personalized products. One of our first projects combined design and circuitry: students created custom fabric patches and then incorporated conductive LED stickers into wearable designs that actually light up. With the Makey Makey kits, they also built interactive posters that respond to touch, turning their artwork into functioning circuits. These hands-on experiences have transformed abstract STEM concepts into something tangible and exciting.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the energy in the room was unforgettable. Students gathered around the boxes, wide-eyed, asking, \"We get to use all of this?\" Many of them had never seen a heat press or used a vinyl cutter before, and the idea that they would be trusted with real tools immediately elevated their sense of responsibility. There was a noticeable shift in confidence—students who are sometimes hesitant during traditional lessons eagerly volunteered to try threading the sewing machine or testing a circuit. The excitement wasn't just about the tools; it was about being empowered to create something meaningful with their own hands.\r\n\r\nNext, students are beginning a collaborative design challenge where they will prototype interactive products that combine crafting and circuitry—such as light-up tote bags or custom apparel with touch-activated elements. They are currently sketching designs, testing circuit layouts, and refining their ideas through peer feedback. Your donation didn't just purchase supplies; it launched a culture of creativity, problem-solving, and perseverance in our classroom. When the boxes arrived, our students were so excited to unpack everything, especially the long microfiber car wash brush and the new hose nozzles. They immediately started testing out all the spray settings and planning how they would organize each washing station. Having brand-new, high-quality supplies made our car wash run smoothly and helped the students feel confident and prepared from the very beginning.\r\n\r\nWe put these materials to use right away during our community fundraising car wash. With the 100-ft hose, splitters, and adjustable sprayers, we were able to set up multiple washing areas and keep everything running efficiently. Students took turns using the new long-handled brushes to clean cars safely and quickly, and they were proud to see how professional their setup looked. Thanks to your support, we were able to wash more cars than ever before and raise more money for our future student council initiatives.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building community service opportunities for our student council members. They are already brainstorming ideas for another car wash fundraiser and discussing how they can use the remaining supplies for future school events. Your donation didn't just support one project, it helped empower students to plan, lead, and take pride in the work they do, and will be used for many projects to come. Your kindness truly made a difference, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our students!","fullyFundedDate":1757258785997,"projectUrl":"project/student-council-car-wash-fundraising-202/9681096/","projectTitle":"Student Council Car Wash Fundraising 2025-2026","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. O'Brien","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10010500_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746116098792","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10010500"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63843","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":471,"numTeachers":50,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":81,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"9.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.9,"schoolId":63843,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Northbridge Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Northbridge Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/northbridge-public-schools/northbridge-senior-high-school/63843"}
