Your generosity means so much to my class. The students are using the resources in ways that I don't think many within the school building thought was possible. We have formed an entirely self run classroom coffee car business run by students with developmental disabilities. The students have been able to successfully make and deliver over 200 cups of coffee so far. This ha improved their social skills and their money management skills. This has also fostered new found confidence in the students. Many of them have come out of their shells more and the shy students are now looking forward to our Fridays with the coffee cart.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the donated materials they were in shock. They had no idea why a cart with wheels and a coffee maker were delivered to our classroom. I explained to the students the idea of making coffee for the staff and calling ourselves the brew crew. They were all in. We then immediately started to practice making coffee and pushing the cart so that nothing would fall off of it when we were out in the school building. The students were hooked. They loved the idea and I could tell that through your generous donations this would be a game changer for the students!\r\n\r\nThe next steps are to expand the Brew Crew even more. My class is located in New York so our last day of school is June 9th. We will have one more coffee run and then we will close down shop until next school year.
