Students use the sets to design and build models, experiment with solutions, and program their creations to complete specific tasks. When my students first saw the LEGO materials, their excitement was immediate—they were eager to touch, build, test, and discover what they could create. These resources have helped make abstract concepts more concrete while encouraging students to ask questions, collaborate with peers, and persevere when their designs do not work the first time.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students are developing confidence as problem-solvers and beginning to see themselves as capable engineers, innovators, and coders. The SPIKE Essential sets allow me to provide meaningful STEAM challenges that strengthen computational thinking, sequencing, debugging, and teamwork. As we continue our current projects, students will refine their designs, troubleshoot coding errors, and improve their creations based on testing and feedback. Your support has opened the door to engaging learning experiences that inspire curiosity, build resilience, and help students understand that mistakes are an important part of the engineering and coding process.","fullyFundedDate":1769177048718,"projectUrl":"project/engineering-our-future/9815137/","projectTitle":"Engineering Our Future","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lewis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2396638_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1591216223462","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-schulert"},{"teacherId":9688616,"projectId":9985686,"letterContent":"When our classroom snacks arrived, my students were beyond excited! One special moment that stood out was during our small group reading time. Students were able to enjoy a snack while working, which helped them stay attentive and participate more actively in discussions. It created a calm, supportive atmosphere where they felt comfortable and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThese snacks have also become a great opportunity to teach life skills like sharing, gratitude, and making healthy choices. One of my favorite moments was during our reading block, when students were able to quickly and independently grab their materials and transition smoothly into learning without disruption. This has helped us maximize instructional time and build responsibility in our young learners.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the seat sacks, their excitement was priceless! Instead of each child bringing their own snack, we are able to provide snacks as a class community. This has made a huge difference in ensuring that no child goes without and that no one feels left out. During our snack time, students practice important skills like sharing, patience, and gratitude while enjoying a treat together. \r\n\r\nWhen the snack donations first arrived, the excitement was contagious. My students were amazed to see the boxes and loved helping sort and organize everything. We have a class snack helper (one of our classroom jobs) and they enjoyed choosing the snack for the day. The class asked where these boxes came from, and we were able to have a teachable moment on donors & how people donate to help their community.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, these snacks will support our learning in so many ways. A full tummy helps growing brains focus during reading, writing, and math lessons. Right now, we are working on building stamina during small group instruction and independent practice, and having consistent snack time helps students stay energized and ready to learn.
