During free choice reading time, it's common to see students completely immersed in a story, excitedly sharing book recommendations with classmates, or asking if they can take a favorite book home to keep reading.\r\n\r\nThese new titles have helped me introduce key reading skills like making inferences, analyzing character development, and identifying theme—all through books my students are genuinely excited to read. It's incredible to see how the right book in the right hands can light a spark in a young reader. One student who used to struggle with reading motivation now comes in each morning eager to grab a graphic novel she's hooked on. Another student has discovered a love for historical fiction and has started writing his own mini stories based on what he's learned.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom looks like joyful engagement: kids sprawled on the rug, tucked into reading nooks, and even buddy reading with partners.
