Our students have \"Damp Box Sessions\" weekly to create the 50 damp boxes for our Ceramics Department, and have really grown from the process! The students are more aware of the health risks, they are more collaborative in the studio, and they are taking more ownership of the studio spaces because of this project. \r\n\r\nBecause the damp boxes are being used immediately, the impact has also been immediately felt and appreciated in our classrooms. The transition from using the bags with clay dust everywhere to using the damp boxes with minimal dust, our floors are now cleaner, the air is clear and cleaner, and works-in-progress are not drying out at such a quick rate that they break before being fired. This opportunity has provided our students with so much more confidence for our students who are learning how to work with clay for the first time.\r\n\r\nNow that our National Art Honor Society members have been able to create the damp boxes and peer-mentor this process, they have the knowledge to carry with them for the rest of their lives, on how to create a safer environment in the ceramics studio.
