On Fridays, when all work is completed, they love working in teams and building things with these kits. I like watching them interact with each other and get creative with the things they choose to build. One of the most meaningful parts of this project was giving my students a voice in selecting the books they wanted to read. Having books that reflect their interests has helped create excitement around reading and encouraged students to take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nAs a resource specialist, I work with students who have a wide range of reading abilities and learning needs. These new books provide opportunities to strengthen important literacy skills, including reading fluency, vocabulary development, comprehension, and retelling key details. During our reading time, students practice reading independently, discuss stories, answer comprehension questions, and build their confidence as readers. Having engaging books that students actually want to read makes these learning experiences even more meaningful.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite parts of this project is seeing students excited to explore our classroom library and discover new books. For students who sometimes find reading challenging, having the opportunity to choose a book that interests them can make a tremendous difference in their motivation and willingness to read.
