Our class, which is full of students who already enjoy being outside, have been able to use the supplies provided through your donations to help establish formal science activities outside, as well as bringing some nature inside our classroom through our hydroponic grow kit. \r\n\r\nThe village of Nondalton sits nestled next to Six-Mile Lake in rural Alaska. Only accessible by small planes that can land on dirt runways, we find ourselves getting creative in how to use our resources and materials. This year our class is participating in a Fresh-Eyes on Ice campaign put on by the University of Alaska - Fairbanks, and the notebooks and pocket microscopes allow us to go outside in the frigid temps and make observations about the snow and ice on our lake. \r\n\r\nOur hydroponic grow kits and seeds have allowed us to see first-hand the process of germination and beginning of life for plants. We have a variety of plants growing in our classroom, which provides both a talking point and an ongoing lesson for us to have.
