The project was designed to help with distribution of materials for activities. The ability to have materials available at a second station allowed students to gather things quickly and get started on the activities. This helped us to make better use of our limited class time, and I can help groups get started on the activity instead of refereeing a chaotic materials station. We were also able to quickly move an activity into the hall when we needed extra space one day. We just rolled the cart out and we had everything we needed close at hand. \r\n\r\nThe surprising part of this project is the ownership the students have taken for organizing and cleaning up the materials on the cart. Students are helping to set up the materials for the activities and making sure we have everything back in place when it is done. There are fewer missing pieces and a greater focus on learning the science content.\r\n\r\nThe cart is the most visible part of the project, but certainly not the only thing that helped us out. The Homepod allows us to play calming music that has become background for our work. It helps students to moderate their voices and brings a sense of focus. The kids enjoy setting a timer on it, and it helps me to stay true to our daily schedule. We can also ask Siri for information when a question comes up like \"how many kilometers are in one mile?\" The blenders will be set up and used in a few weeks when students have a chance to create their own smoothie recipes and try them out. \r\n\r\nThe impact of this project is greater than I expected, and I am enjoying the sense of community it is helping to create in my classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1773240567748,"projectUrl":"project/creating-learning-spaces/10129422/","projectTitle":"Creating Learning Spaces","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chrissy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/chrissy-romero"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_106878","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":629,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":93,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":55.6,"schoolId":106878,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Nina Otero Community School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Nina Otero Community School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/santa-fe-public-school-district/nina-otero-community-school-opening-august-2014-/106878"}
