As we unboxed our books and read through the titles, all I could hear was \"I want that one,\" \"so cool,\" \"wow,\" \"nos puedes leer ese?- can you read us that one?\"\r\n\r\nThese books have become part of our morning routine. After breakfast, they have the opportunity to share a book with a partner- they talk about the pictures and find words we have learned in Spanish. In addition, they get to hear me read a book of their choice and learn about a famous person/country and add to their Spanish vocabulary. Thank you for making this possible! A little Spanish library of our own was a wish come true! \r\n\r\nOur other donations are a hit during indoor recess and craft materials will be used in upcoming projects- we're looking forward to continued fun, collaboration and learning.","fullyFundedDate":1765202540308,"projectUrl":"project/literature-inspiration-without-limits/9559850/","projectTitle":"Literature & Inspiration Without Limits","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Merlos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4261361_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753106444479","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-merlos"},{"teacherId":10205306,"projectId":9634293,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and helping bring these new books and resources to my students. In our classroom, books are more than just stories. They are tools that help students learn about emotions, relationships, and how to navigate challenges. The social-emotional learning books you helped provide introduce important skills such as recognizing and naming feelings, practicing kindness, solving problems with friends, and learning ways to calm our bodies when we feel upset or overwhelmed. As we read together, we talk about what the characters are experiencing, make connections to our own lives, and discuss choices the characters could make. These conversations help students build empathy, strengthen vocabulary, and develop the confidence to talk about their own emotions.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is very interactive and engaging. Students gather together for read-alouds in our cozy reading area using the new flexible seating and floor pillows. We pause often during stories to ask questions, make predictions, and share ideas. Students enjoy discussing the characters and sometimes even acting out different emotions from the stories. The books are also used throughout the week during small group conversations and our calming corner, where students can revisit stories and practice the strategies they have learned.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially connected with these books. Some students who previously struggled to express their feelings are now beginning to use words and ideas from the stories to explain how they feel. Others are reminding their classmates about kindness and helping friends who may be upset. Seeing students apply the lessons from these books in real classroom situations has been incredibly meaningful. Because of your generosity, my students are not only growing as readers, but also as thoughtful, caring members of our classroom community. Thank you for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1765202536802,"projectUrl":"project/building-hearts-and-minds-sel-tools-for/9634293/","projectTitle":"Building Hearts and Minds: SEL Tools for Growing Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mamerow","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10205306"},{"teacherId":7852081,"projectId":8633972,"letterContent":"It's been almost a year since this project went live and you graciously helped fund it. And the impact has been amazing!\r\n\r\nSince I only see my students 50 minutes a week for music, my students haven't been able to individually read them, but I have loved choosing a few to read aloud throughout the year! The students have loved hearing the stories of people represent them and their cultures and have been successful in music. It makes them feel like they can have success as well.\r\n\r\nIn particular, it has been wonderful for me to bring them stories of musicians from cultures different than their own. The stories of Asian musicians have been of particular interest, since my students don't encounter that culture often. They've been able to ask questions and we've learned together about the different instruments and customs of those cultures.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your donations and for helping me bring these stories to my students.
