A special thank you to the Donors Choose Community for helping us achieve our goals, one of which was to create and begin a Crochet Club on our little campus! \r\n\r\nCrochet Club is teaching students new, creative skills. Counting stitches and skip counting while increasing in each row involves a lot of math. Reading a pattern tests their knowledge of abbreviations, planning ahead, and really increases student's focus. Also, repetitive movements, like in the consistent stitching used in crocheting, has been proven to calm and regulate students. Therefore, I have also been teaching basic crochet chaining in my classroom of special needs students. The students can crochet when they need a break and/or have achieved a learning goal in a subject. This has helped nicely with student motivation toward their academic learning. \r\n\r\nWe are so grateful that you thought of us and we will definitely continue the Crochet Club next year and hopefully for many years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1733254871960,"projectUrl":"project/crochet-calculations-weaving-math-into/8964494/","projectTitle":"Crochet Calculations: Weaving Math Into Art","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hancock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8257702_orig.jpg?crop=473,473,x33,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1640900101974","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8257702"},{"teacherId":8257702,"projectId":8134674,"letterContent":"The students at our small school are so very grateful for your donation.
