For many of my students, this is their first opportunity to work with robotics, sensors, motors, and computer programming in a hands-on environment.\r\n\r\nWhat makes the mBot especially exciting is that students can immediately see the results of their coding. Instead of only writing code on a computer screen, they can program their robot to move, respond to its environment, follow commands, and complete challenges. When a program does not work correctly, students have to think critically, identify the problem, make changes, and try again. These are valuable skills that extend far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nMy students are particularly excited about the ability to build and control something they created themselves. They love watching their robot come to life after they have programmed it. The excitement of seeing a robot move for the first time has turned programming from an abstract concept into something tangible and meaningful.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who may not have initially considered themselves \"computer science\" students have really connected with the mBot. Students who enjoy building, taking things apart, experimenting, and solving problems have found a natural place in robotics. Working in teams has also encouraged students to communicate, share ideas, and help one another troubleshoot.\r\n\r\nThis project has helped create a classroom where students are not just consumers of technology—they are creators, programmers, engineers, and problem-solvers. We are incredibly grateful to our donors for helping provide an experience that our students may not otherwise have access to. Your generosity is giving them the chance to explore robotics and STEM careers while building skills they can carry with them into high school, college, and future careers.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and helping us build the next generation of innovators!","fullyFundedDate":1778805315584,"projectUrl":"project/click-code-create-bringing-robots-to/10036555/","projectTitle":"Click, Code, Create: Bringing Robots to Our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Taylor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10044669_orig.jpg?crop=947,948,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1766332193381","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10044669"},{"teacherId":10044669,"projectId":10140928,"letterContent":"Our new 3D printing filament has completely transformed the learning experience in our classroom. Many people are familiar with 3D printing as a hobby or for making simple objects at home, but in our classroom it has become a powerful educational tool that allows students to bring ideas to life. Students are using the filament to design and create prototypes, engineering projects, problem-solving models, and creative inventions that connect directly to real-world careers in technology, engineering, and design. Instead of simply reading about concepts, students are learning by doing, testing, and improving their creations through hands-on experiences.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the new filament is the ability to turn their imagination into something physical they can hold in their hands. Watching a design they created on a computer slowly become a real object is incredibly motivating for them. The variety of colors and materials has also sparked creativity and pride in their work. Students who may not normally feel confident in traditional classroom settings are becoming deeply engaged because they can see immediate results from their effort and creativity.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially connected with this technology. Some of my quieter students, who are often hesitant to participate in regular class discussions, have become leaders during design projects. They enjoy troubleshooting printer settings, refining models, and helping classmates learn the software and equipment. Other students who are interested in gaming, mechanics, or art have discovered that 3D printing combines all of those interests into meaningful educational experiences. It has been incredible to watch students gain confidence, collaboration skills, and excitement for learning through this technology.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided opportunities that many of our students would not otherwise have access to. I want to share what this project has truly meant for my students and how your support is making a real difference every day.\r\n\r\nMany of our donors use technology at home, but in a classroom setting, this robot goes far beyond screens and apps. The coding robot helps my students learn by turning abstract ideas into hands-on experiences. Instead of just reading about coding or following steps on a computer, students are writing code and immediately seeing the results. They learn problem-solving, logical thinking, collaboration, and perseverance as they test their programs, fix mistakes, and try again. This type of learning builds deeper understanding and confidence, especially for students who learn best by doing.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most about the coding robot is that they are in control. They love watching their code bring the robot to life—moving, turning, and completing challenges they designed themselves. Every success feels rewarding, and even mistakes become exciting because they lead to discovery. The robot has created an energy in our classroom that encourages curiosity, creativity, and teamwork.\r\n\r\nThere are several students who have especially warmed to this new technology. Some students who were previously quiet or unsure in class have become leaders, helping others debug code and explaining their thinking. Others who struggle with traditional paper-and-pencil work have found confidence and pride through hands-on coding. I've watched students who once doubted their abilities realize that they are capable problem-solvers—and that moment is powerful.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students—who attend a rural school with limited resources—now have access to meaningful STEM experiences that inspire them to dream bigger and believe in themselves. This project has had an immediate and positive impact on my students. We are using the pegboard to organize tools and materials for our hands-on projects, and it has transformed our workspace into a more professional, efficient learning environment. One standout moment was during a recent build activity when a student confidently grabbed the correct tool from the wall and said, \"This feels like a real workshop.\" That sense of ownership and responsibility is exactly what I want my students to experience.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the pegboard installed, their excitement was clear. They were amazed that everything had a designated place and were eager to help organize it. Several students volunteered to label hooks and arrange tools, and they immediately understood how this setup helps keep everyone safe and focused. The visual organization has especially helped students who struggle with attention and organization, making it easier for them to follow procedures and stay engaged.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our next steps include starting a larger design-and-build project where students will plan, measure, and construct small creations using the organized tools.
