Your generosity has helped me strengthen my teaching practice by providing opportunities to use instructional technology and professional learning to make lessons more engaging, meaningful, and responsive to my students' needs. I am learning to intentionally combine technology with hands-on activities, collaborative learning, and differentiated instruction so that students have multiple ways to access challenging concepts. These resources also help me monitor student progress and use assessment information, including classroom data and NWEA results, to better identify areas where students need additional support.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite classroom moments is seeing students become excited when they finally understand a challenging concept and confidently explain their thinking. Instead of simply asking, \"What is the answer?\" I can now provide opportunities for students to explore, practice, discuss, and explain how they arrived at their answers. I have seen students who were initially hesitant become more willing to participate and persevere through challenging tasks. This project has reminded me that when I continue growing as a teacher, my students benefit directly. We are a Title I school in New Mexico near the Four Corners region, where classroom resources are not always readily available—especially when it comes to hands-on and engaging materials that make learning fun. Your generosity gave my students an opportunity to learn important life skills in a way that feels exciting and meaningful to them.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were immediately curious. They eagerly helped me unbox everything, wondering what was inside the boxes. Their excitement grew when they discovered the play money and cash registers. They immediately began asking, \"Are we going to use these?\" and were thrilled to learn that they would have the opportunity to earn and spend their own classroom money.\r\n\r\nThe goal of this project is to introduce students to the concept of money while showing them that effort, responsibility, and positive choices can have meaningful rewards. Throughout the week, students can earn classroom dollars for things such as actively participating in lessons, following classroom expectations, demonstrating responsibility, helping others, or serving as a positive role model. They then have the opportunity to make their own choices about how to use the money they have earned.\r\n\r\nOur classroom store has become a place where students practice independence, decision-making, saving, and responsibility. They can choose to spend their classroom dollars on small rewards such as fidget toys or snacks like candy, vanilla wafers, Goldfish, cheddar popcorn, Pringles, and Nutella sticks. While these items may seem simple, the process of earning and deciding how to spend their money has created many meaningful learning opportunities.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most importantly, the classroom store has led to lessons that I could never have planned on paper. We have had conversations about honesty when students have found classroom money on the floor and chosen to turn it in rather than keep it. Students have learned that their choices matter and that being a good citizen means doing the right thing even when no one is watching. I have also been pleasantly surprised to see students combine the money they have earned to purchase something they could share with their classmates. Moments like these have allowed us to talk about generosity, cooperation, and thinking about others.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students are not simply learning about money—they are practicing real-world skills in a safe and engaging classroom environment. They are learning that hard work can lead to rewards, that they have choices when it comes to managing what they earn, and that their actions can positively affect the people around them.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping make learning more hands-on, memorable, and fun. Your support has given 22 fourth graders the opportunity to experience important life lessons in a way they will remember long after the classroom store closes.
