Through the process of listening and practicing musical concepts from these books, students deepened their knowledge on musical concepts like rhythm, dynamics and notational literacy while also developing skills in listening and performing. It encouraged ownership of learning, as each student was able to express their unique ideas and interpretations of musical concepts. Additionally, the project fostered confidence, collaboration, and critical thinking, making it more than just an academic project—it became a memorable experience that strengthened both their musical skills and their ability to communicate creatively.\r\n\r\nReading in the music room is a group activity. We all get to immersify ourselves in the story, get to ask questions, hypothesize and discuss concepts. We have worked on making the reading student focused with each story containing concepts that we learn about in our music. They get to see where the story and the music connects and where they can make the music go to. Students who are really enjoying these books are the students who don't get a lot of reading done at home. This has been another space for them to hear books and eventually read the books themselves and make a project out of the books. Every book has been unique for the students and every book impacts students in different ways.","fullyFundedDate":1762192830927,"projectUrl":"project/music-project/9854412/","projectTitle":"Music Project","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10327810"},{"teacherId":243996,"projectId":9637240,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the amazing manners materials! Our class is loving our compliment tree- it was full of fall leaf compliments all autumn, and soon it will be filled with snowflake shaped compliments! What a fun seasonal way to spread kindness in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe read a number of the manners books aloud as a whole class, and some are in our classroom library for children to choose which ones they want to read on their own. Many families struggle to impart manners to their children, and we can all use a reminder now and then, so these books are great!\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting our classroom community for this year, and many years to come with these fabulous resources. Our students have loved our new set of books and the tiny stuffies that go with each book. Helping students recognize their emotions and then gain good strategies for controlling their emotional state has been wonderful. Especially for students who have had trauma in their past or difficulty with emotional outbursts, these books can help them move through an emotionally charged moment, use calming strategies, and move forward with their day. They have also been helpful for students to recognize how others are feeling. Your help getting these great little books into the hands of kids has been a wonderful opportunity for students to build self-regulation skills that will help them for the rest of their lives!","fullyFundedDate":1739375270503,"projectUrl":"project/growing-good-people-building-social-ski/9020712/","projectTitle":"Growing Good People- Building Social Skills with Great Books!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Madison","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp243996_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1453650778465","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsmadison"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_88133","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":342,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":57,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":66.8,"schoolId":88133,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Myers Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Myers Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/salem-keizer-school-district-24j/myers-elementary-school/88133"}
