Because of your contributions, materials were distributed to schools across multiple districts serving primarily Indigenous students on the Hualapai Indian Reservation and the Navajo Nation. Your support is helping us take an important step toward addressing equitable access to educational resources and supplies for our students to engage in place-based and culturally relevant opportunities in their communities.\r\n\r\nOur students are already putting these new materials to use in powerful and engaging ways. At the elementary level, our Special Education classroom is using the new resources to build a functional classroom kitchen where students are learning essential life skills. One memorable moment was watching students work together to prepare a simple, healthy snack- measuring ingredients, practicing kitchen safety, and proudly sharing what they made. These hands-on experiences are helping them gain confidence and independence that they will take with them into adulthood.\r\n\r\nAt the middle and high school levels, students are benefiting from inclusive gym equipment and the beginnings of a school garden. In physical education settings, students of all abilities are engaging together, learning about teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy habits through friendly competition. In the garden, students are beginning to explore where food comes from while connecting to native plants, traditional uses, and the cultural history of the land. These activities are also opening opportunities to incorporate Native language and cultural knowledge into everyday learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students were eager to explore something new, and help set up and use the materials, especially since these resources are hands-on and connected to real-world skills. Many of our students thrive when learning feels relevant and interactive, and these materials have sparked curiosity, engagement, and joy in the classroom at all levels.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our students will continue developing practical life skills and deeper connections to their learning. Elementary students will expand their kitchen experiences by practicing food and meal preparation, cleaning up after themselves, learning food safety, and building social skills through table setting and manners. Meanwhile, our middle and high school students will continue growing through inclusive physical activities and will increase their athletic abilities and to work as a team. By further developing the school garden, they will learn about native species, sustainability, and traditional ecological knowledge, all while strengthening community connections.\r\n\r\nYour support is making a lasting impact, not only in what students are learning today, but in the skills and confidence they will carry into their futures. Thank you for investing in our students and for being a part of their journey.","fullyFundedDate":1768413466518,"projectUrl":"project/mrs-jones/9993430/","projectTitle":"Mrs. Jones","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10356906"},{"teacherId":10355375,"projectId":9990270,"letterContent":"I retire in three years and wanted to get enough art supplies for over those years.
