Our library is shared among 4 High Schools in the same building so passive programming that engages students and makes them want to visit the library is very important! The library has 4 open access lunch periods per day and averages about 150 students most days. The number of visitors continues to increase as I add more fun activities for students to engage with. NYC has also gone fully cell-phone free this year so students are definitely more open to engaging with the lego building sets. They are excited for the opportunity to create, build and share their work with other students. Some projects have been completed and others are in progress. The lego wall is also a popular place for students to relax through play and work together with others to add to it. It is important for students to get away from screens, to slow down and to challenge parts of their brains that might otherwise not be challenged during a typical school day. A special shout out to Ripple for their ongoing support to teachers through Donors Choose.
