Many of them head straight to the shelves as soon as they walk in, eager to see what they can discover next. Even students who weren't big readers before are now picking up books and sharing their favorite characters and stories with their classmates.\r\n\r\nThe variety of books has really encouraged curiosity and sparked meaningful discussions. During reading time, I notice students not only enjoying the stories but also making connections to what we've been learning in class. Their vocabulary is growing, and they're beginning to ask deeper questions about the world around them, inspired by the characters and topics they're exploring.\r\n\r\nEvery day, I see the impact this library has on our classroom. Students are recommending books to one another, writing about what they read, and showing a new excitement for learning. Thanks to your generosity, reading has become a shared joy in our room, and every new book checked out feels like an adventure waiting to happen.","fullyFundedDate":1771411327677,"projectUrl":"project/lets-build-out-my-classroom-library/10102285/","projectTitle":"Let's Build Out My Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Melton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8545627_orig.jpg?crop=1353,1353,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1658806116818","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8545627"},{"teacherId":5711811,"projectId":10116405,"letterContent":"We are finally approaching the end of the 2025 - 2026 academic school year! I am using the supplies to revist a previous standard that we hit back on last fall; severe weather and hurricanes. At first my students were a little perplexed at the supplies but then easily got more excited when they saw the bouncy balls. After graphing, I was able to set up the ropes to model hurricane tracking paths, masking tape to mark where a hurricane made landfall, and the bouncy balls to model how different tracking models make their predictions. \r\n\r\nMy next step for this unit is to rewrite this lesson as week-long unit where we discuss the phenomenon first [hurricanes and hurricane Katrina in particular], then get our standard vocabulary lecture, do the hurricane tracking model, do a second modeling session to model storm surge with Play-Doh; a container; water; and straws, and lastly cap it off with an assessment. From experience, student learn more just by being more hands-on and I do my best to seek out materials and labs to set up for my earth science classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1773705704035,"projectUrl":"project/modeling-hurricane-tracking/10116405/","projectTitle":"Modeling Hurricane Tracking","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Peralta","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5711811_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1538071812875","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5711811"},{"teacherId":9834804,"projectId":9026384,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my classroom. Your donation has made a significant impact on my students by simply providing them with materials to perform labs and do daily schoolwork. Most of my students come from rough communities and have had to face some sort of adversity already in their lives. Because of this, most of them have no interest in science or what has to happen to develop deeper understanding of a topic. \r\nThis was a great opportunity to allow them to perform a traditional frog dissection safely in the classroom. Students were able to do something out of their comfort zone that helped them to see how scientists have to take a different approach to make all of the discoveries and advancements that have been made. But most importantly, they were able to do this safely and were able to have and keep clean materials. The students were very interested in the dissection and asked to perform more. A lot of work went into this lab and it would not have been possible without you. \r\nThe posters have been hung around the classroom so that students can view them and reference them as needed. They have also taken advantage of the pencils and paper purchased with your donation. We are looking forward to being able to perform more labs, but in the meantime we are using the cleaning supplies to keep our lab hygenic. We couldn't be more grateful and we hope that more people continue to help people like us.","fullyFundedDate":1739467818861,"projectUrl":"project/from-hazard-to-hygiene-building-a-safe/9026384/","projectTitle":"From Hazard to Hygiene: Building a Safe and Clean Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ericka Brown","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9834804_orig.jpg?crop=2277,2277,x776,y1384&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735846252368","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9834804"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11477","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1200,"numTeachers":105,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":74,"percentWhite":15,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":64.8,"schoolId":11477,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Murphy High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Murphy High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/alabama/mobile-county-public-schools/murphy-high-school/11477"}
