As a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, I work with children who have a range of communication needs. Some of my students require assistive technology, such as IPads, to help them communicate their wants, needs, thoughts, and feelings. These IPads allow these students with complex communication needs the ability to participate at school in a way that is the most beneficial for them. \r\n\r\nThis project is exciting for my students because it is opening up a whole new world of communication opportunities for them. These students who do not communicate verbally now have the ability to produce communication through these augmentative and alternative communication devices while they are at school. They now have a more functional way to answer their teacher's questions, request items for lunch, and so much more throughout the school day. \r\n\r\nWhile this type of communication is new to some of my students, they are such fast learners! Children are really great with technology, so my students have adapted quickly.
