When I received the first donation I was really excited and, when the project got funded so quickly, I got really emotional. I was full of joy to see how people that do not know us is so generous and willing to help my little TK students.\r\nWe got the supplies right before winter break. When we received the materials in our classroom, students were really excited to see all the different colorful construction paper, card stock, glue, and tissue paper. We also used the time to review the colors in both languages as we classified the construction paper by color. They had so much fun! \r\nNow that we are back from break, we started using the art supplies to work on different art projects. We celebrated the new year with a hat art project and a wish for the new year. The rug has also become a favorite space for playing learning games, partner activities, and building important social skills like taking turns, listening, and collaborating.\r\nWhen the students first saw the rug, their faces lit up with excitement. They immediately asked when they could sit on it and carefully chose their spots. For many students, having a comfortable, welcoming place to sit together made our classroom feel more like a community. The rug instantly created a calm, inviting environment where students feel safe, included, and excited to be part of our class.\r\nThanks to this project, our next steps include continuing to use the rug as a central space for lessons, read-alouds, and relationship-building activities. Students also enjoy using the rug as a place to relax and read, play games, and even share lunch with the teacher, strengthening connections and trust. Your support provided more than a rug—it gave our students a shared space to learn, grow, and belong.
