We even have a 6th grade student who takes 3 different buses to get to school (talk about persistence!). Some of our students don't come to school because they are embarrassed by their clothing (usually bottoms because we provide them with uniform tops). Sweatpants, hats, gloves, and even socks are things most of us don't think about having but my students do. \r\n\r\nThis particular project affected more of my boys than girls. They are at that age where how they look means everything to them. The look on their faces and the pure joy and pride when they went home with new clothing and winter gear is something I will not forget. \r\n\r\nSome hid their things in their book bags and others went to the bathroom to put them on right away. \r\n\r\nMy next step is to create a closet for boys and girls for items such as these. I hadn't realized that I only ordered size small joggers (thank goodness they run a little big). But the next project I will ask for a variety of sizes.\r\n\r\nYou made my students feel seen and heard. They really helped us to make the last few weeks of school bearable. Between the hundreds of pencils that we went through trying to make up portfolio work and preparing for testing and the snacks that that helped us work through lunch, we are forever grateful. It was interesting for the children to see that people they have never met would reach out to them and help them in a way that they aren't necessarily used to so that was great, teaching them to appreciate that sometimes people look out for those of us who are just a little bit less fortunate than others. \r\n\r\nThe experience also made the students start to think about ways that they could help other people and our community like maybe helping out the children in the elementary school providing things for them when they come to the after school program just to borrow some of our supplies to help them do their homework and things like that so the experience through Jonas shoes has absolutely been a source of inspiration to our middle school students and we thank you","fullyFundedDate":1745847033744,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-make-it-to-the-end-of-the-year/9186565/","projectTitle":"Help Us Make It To The End Of The Year!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. R.
